The Indiana University Bloomington  Department of History and Philosophy of Science & Medicine  graduate student association is hosting a workshop titled “Ethical, Epistemological, and Historical Perspectives on Public Health and Wellness,” to be held virtually on May 26-28th, 2021. Spurred by the increased attention to public health and wellness in the wake of COVID-19, this workshop brings together diverse scholars working in history and philosophy of science. These talks examine socio-medical issues of the past and present, wherein epistemological goals and ethical responsibilities collide. In that spirit, we embrace a broad understanding of “public health and wellness” which includes not only physical but also mental and emotional health, environmental health, and racial injustice as a health crisis.
